It was a great weekend of hockey for the Xavier University Club Hockey team, as the Musketeers battled crosstown rival University of Cincinnati in two closely contested games, capped off by an exciting overtime victory Saturday night.
Friday's matchup saw Xavier come up just short in a hard-fought 3-2 loss, setting the stage for another competitive showdown Saturday.
The Musketeers responded in a big way, earning a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory over the Bearcats. After a back-and-forth battle through regulation, Hanisko delivered the game-winning goal in overtime to secure the win for Xavier.
Esler, Sweeney, and Pereira also found the back of the net for the Musketeers, while Brady, Hanisko, Weavil, Bernard, Stebbins, Garner, and Dahlin contributed assists in the victory.
The weekend showcased the team's competitiveness and determination, with Xavier bouncing back from Friday's narrow defeat to finish the rivalry series on a high note.
The Musketeers will look to carry that momentum into All for One Weekend next week, when they take on Ohio State. With family and friends coming to Cincinnati to cheer on the team, it promises to be another exciting weekend of Xavier Hockey.
Go Musketeers!
